Doing the best she can to raise happy, healthy children

This is my third fix. I’ve really enjoyed getting these boxes and finding things I may not always choose for myself. Each month my stylist has picked out really great options for me. The first month I kept all 5 items, the second I kept 3 out of 5. This month I kept all 5 items. I’ll attach some pictures and my thoughts on all the items.

If you would like read about my previous fixes, you can check Box 1 HERE and Box 2 HERE. This box was the holiday box and it featured a golden ticket. I was pretty excited to scratch mine off. I didn’t win instantly but am in the drawing for the big gift certificate.

This time I didn’t provide any feedback as to what I wanted. I let her style me however she wanted. I have to say, I was pretty excited with what I received. There were two items I was a bit unsure of when pulling them out but once I tried them on, I really liked them.

My disclaimer is I’m a horrible “Selfie” taker. So There are a couple of selfies. And I am sorry.

First is the black beaded sweater. This was one I wasn’t certain on when I first looked at it. It seemed a bit flashy. However, once I tried it on, I really liked it. Its a fun sweater that would look great for a party. As I examined it closer, I noticed a missing  bead and a second one was pretty loose. Stitch fix was able to replace and is currently mailing one.

The next item, is a fantastic scarf. I’ve not received one before and was very excited to have it. Its beautiful burgandy and navy and I feel that I will be able to use it with several items in my wardrobe. Its also a larger scarf then I currently own. It will take me some time to learn to style it appropriately.

Next is this beautiful gray 3/4 length sleeve. It is similar to a yoga top. I knew I was going to love it as soon as I saw it. It’s perfect for hanging out at home or out for lunch. I absolutely loved this tie on the back.

This puffer vest was the most expensive item in my box. Its very good quality and so comfy! At first I was a bit nervous about this color. But I now love it! I wore it out shopping tonight tonight. It really is a perfect addition to my closet.

So this isn’t a great picture of me. Hence I did say I’m horrible at selfies. However, when I tried this on I paired it with the grey top and the white ribbon tie.

This it the last piece in my box this time. I was bit hesitant with it. In fact I pulled it out and thought it was pretty but wasn’t sure I’d keep it. I tried it on and it was very comfortable. Being a mom, student and full-time employee, comfort is number 1 on my list. I also really liked how it looked on. I love the cut out in the back.

So that was my fix! I kept all my items. This month with my buy 5 discount and the $20 styling fee taken out, before taxes it was under $200. So that made this fix the most reasonable. It was nice be a bit lower since it was the holiday month.

I put fixes out for a couple of months. My next fix will be in March. I requested for that fix to have some dresses. I have graduation from NP school and I wish to have something nice to wear to the ceremony and while celebrating.

What do you think of the fix? Would you have kept everything? I would love to have your feedback. Do you get Stitch Fix? I would love to hear what you think of it.

If you’d like to try it out, follow THIS LINK. If you follow that link and decide to sign-up, I will receive a credit once you order your first box.  I think its worth trying a couple of months to quickly and easily update your clothing.

Sometimes things happen and I realize how much of a geek I am. For example, anytime anyone or any company talks about a “Golden Ticket” I get super excited! Like I can’t help but want to participate it. Its silly, I know. It always reminds me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory….you know the golden ticket to chocolate factory. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if its the thought of chocolate or if its my love of that movie, but I love golden tickets!!

So, much to my pleasure, Stitch Fix is putting golden tickets in all the boxes they send out the month of December! What does this mean? It means you have the chance to win prizes with the biggest prize of  free clothes for a year! Personally, I’ll be excited to win a gift card but would be stoked to win the free clothes for a year!  The more boxes you order the more tickets you’ll get (one ticket per box. So two boxes = 2tickets).

This makes it a great time to try out Stitch Fix or to order one if its been a while!

You can follow THIS LINK to sign-up if you’ve not ordered before. In full disclosure this does give me a credit. Of course, if you get your box, you are not obligated to keep anything and can return all the clothes for the cost of the styling fee.

If you want to see my first two boxes you can check out these links: STITCH FIX 1  and STITCH FIX 2.

Anyways! I wanted to share that AWESOME news. Let me know if you Stitch Fix and what you’ve gotten and loved! Let me know too what prize you win off your Golden Ticket!

I was pretty excited to get my second box. My first box was a success and I decided to keep everything. To read my initial box thoughts read my review HERE.

This fix I asked for items that would work with the awesome sweater I received with the last box and items I could dress up or down. I must say, my stylist is amazing. She did a great job again this month with meeting and exceeding my expectations.

This month I received two sweaters, two shirts and a pair of skinny jeans or jeggings (I’m not sure what makes jeans skinny vs jeggings…). I was quite pleased with all of it. Here is what I received and what I kept and what I sent back.

First off, the Skinny Jeans. Its hard to tell in the picture but they are a dark wash with gold printed into it. Not only are they pretty but they are also super comfy! I have a hard time finding jeans that 1) I like and 2) feet well. However these are fantastic. They are Liverpool Anita Printed Skinny Print. I kept these.

20161126_195441 This is beautiful! It’s a silky-like material and it has this fun button on the sleeves. It’s a bit clingier than I would like for my tummy area. However it looks great. I also love how I can pair it with my sweater from last time which would help hide the tummy. I can also wear it to work and or just out and about. This is 41Hawthorne Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse. I kept this.

Sorry for the sideways picture. I couldn’t figure out how to turn it. This is a very pretty sweater. Its long so it looks great with the skinny jeans. It has some darker threading along the bottom which doesn’t show on the picture. The one downfall is the knitting is not really thick. So I will need to wear a cami or  tank underneath. I feel like I could dress it up or keep it casual. This is RD Style La Roda Pullover Sweater. I kept this.

This was probably my favorite. It’s basically a long t-shirt. It was flowy so I didn’t have any tummy clinging. It also worked great with the jeans. Unfortunately, it had a slight snag in the thread on the inside of the shirt. Although it would most likely NOT catch on anything, I didn’t want to spend so much on something that had a blemish. I did reach out to Stitch Fix and asked about getting a replacement, unfortunately they had none to send me. This is Le Lis Stanley Striped Reglan Top. I did return it.

This was the last sweater in the box. I love the elbow patches and the texture on the bodice. Its also a long sweater which looked good with the jeans. To say I loved this sweater would’ve been and understatement. Its warm and comfy. It was also a bit thin and will require a cami. However, this was a whopping $98. I was extremely torn about sending it or keeping until I realized I had to send back my other shirt. Without the 25% discount, I couldn’t rationalize spending that much on a white sweater. No matter how awesome those elbow pads are. It is Evolution by Cyrus Abbot Cowl Neck Elbow Patch Sweater.

Sending two items back, brought my total down under $200 after my styling fee was taken out. So I felt pretty good about my stash and the cost. Initially, when I thought I was keeping all 5 items, I was going to put my fix on hold. However, since I sent two back, I may take one in December. I’ll have to wait to see how my holiday spending goes.

As always, if you want to try it out, you can follow this LINK. This does provide me with a discount once you order your first box.

Do you get Stitch Fix or another service? I’d love to hear about your fixes or boxes. What do you think of the clothes I received? Would you have kept or sent back something different? Let me know!

I know this Stitch Fix box thing isn’t new. I know there are tons of Stitch Fix reveal vlogs out there. However, after months (literally) of contemplating it, I ordered my first box. Part of the reason I struggled with deciding to order one is because of the size cut-off. It only went up to size 14. And, well, I’m just a bit too big for that. Pants I’m a 16 and my shirt size varies between  a L and a XL completely depending on cut. So, you see, I didn’t want to order a box just to waste 20 bucks!

But here’s the thing, sometime between late summer/early fall and now (October), they’ve increased their sizing! Its no up to size 18 pants and XXL. So I say, “Thank-you Stitch-fix!” After I noticed that, without much hesitation, I ordered my first box.

Probably one of the biggest things I was told by “expert” stitchers was to give it a couple of boxes to allow the stylist get to know my style. It was recommended to do several month’s of boxes and then cut down if I wanted. I went into this expecting just an “OK” box for my first one.

Boy was I surprised! I got a great first box. I ended up keeping all the items. I asked my stylist to give me clothes I could layer. I received 3 shirts and one sweater that will be perfect for this. I was also furthered surprised to find a pair of jeans that fit and felt very comfy.

I will say, its not the cheapest way to shop but I look as it I’m paying for the convenience. I won’t be able to do it EVERY month but I’m hoping to do it for a few months and then switch to doing it a couple times seasonally.

Here’s what was in my box:

Have you tried Stitch Fix? I would love to hear about your success stories. What do you think about the items I received?

So, I’m slow to join the leggings conversation. Are they pants or are they not? Can you wear them and not cover up your bum? Must you wear a long shirt or a short skin? Can a slightly larger lady wear them? Or, even more important, is there an age limit on the appropriateness of leggings?

I don’t know the answers to any questions. Not really anyway. I will admit, for the longest time, I’d say you weren’t completely dressed in leggings. Then I discovered running leggings. They make running so much more enjoyable. So, I adjusted my thinking to include, running leggings are pants if you’re running or going to or from the gym. I stand by that. My opinion hasn’t changed on that.

Last fall, I noticed some super cute outfits that include leggings as pants. I wanted to see if this fad would go away or if anyone would answer the question, are leggings pants? Well, they seem to be sticking around and many have accepted them to, indeed be paints. So, I begin contemplating if I could really get away with wearing them.

Then I found LuLaRoe leggings. Ah-Mazing. Super soft and crazy comfy. I purchased my first pair and was so excited when I tried them on and they were really comfortable. I fell in love. The pair I was able to obtain has a bit more design on it then things I normally wear. So my husband has labeled them as my “clown pants”.

After purchasing them and trying them on, I noticed I didn’t have any long shirts. But, I wanted to wear them out last Christmas shopping on Black Friday. With some encouragement from some Facebook friends, I paired them up with a normal length shirt and a long sweater. This had my backside covered but my front was normal. I didn’t think this looked horrible, but maybe not quite awesome. I do after all have some extra weight I carry mostly in my thighs and bum.

I’ve since been looking for longer shirts that I don’t mind and don’t think look too frumpy. I’m having some difficulty deciding on what to get. I don’t have a lot of money to spend on clothing. I try to be as frugal as possible. I’m still searching.

So, my question for all of you lovelies, do you wear leggings as pants? Do you always cover up? If you have a picture of you rockin’ your leggings please share I’d love to see how “real” people pair up their leggings.
